Twist n Lock Safety Handle — Peace of Mind Below Decks
The defining feature of the Jabsco 29090-5000 is its twist-and-lock mechanism. At the end of the normal pump-out stroke, you simply turn the handle through 90 degrees at the bottom of the stroke, locking the piston down onto the base outlet valve. This keeps the valve securely shut, preventing waste backflow and guarding against potential flooding through the waste line. Returning the handle to its normal operating position releases the lock instantly, so operation remains intuitive and quick.
Compact Design for Tight Marine Spaces
Not every boat has a spacious head compartment. The compact bowl model measures just 330 mm (13¼") high, 455 mm (17¾") wide, and 425 mm (16¾") deep, making it well suited to smaller sailboats, pocket cruisers, and powerboats where every centimetre counts. Despite its reduced footprint, the toilet retains a full-size ceramic bowl and a comfortable baked enamel wooden seat, so you don't sacrifice comfort for space savings.
Powerful Double-Acting Piston Pump
The self-priming, double-acting piston pump delivers strong swirl action for efficient flushing. An angled pump housing and long stroke make pumping easier, while a spring-assisted top valve closure aids priming. The automatic vacuum breaker, operated by the flush control lever, ensures the bowl empties completely. The flushing pump self-primes from dry up to 1 metre below the base, and the waste pump can discharge up to 3 metres above the base — more than enough for most holding tank installations.
Blockage-Resistant Waste Path
A constant 38 mm (1½") bore waste path runs from the bowl through to the discharge elbow, minimising the risk of blockages that plague narrower systems. The aortic joker valve maintains this full bore while providing automatic backflow prevention. The multi-angle discharge elbow can be rotated 360° to suit your particular installation layout, giving you flexibility when routing waste hoses to a holding tank or overboard discharge.
Easy Installation and Reversible Pump Mounting
The reversible pump mounting allows the installer to reassemble the unit for left-hand operation — a significant advantage in tight head compartments where the pump handle needs to be on a specific side. Accessible mounting points and front- or top-facing fastenings mean faster installation and superbly simple servicing without the need for special tools. The multi-angle discharge elbow further simplifies plumbing connections.
