Epoxy mixed with Graphite is commonly used as a low-load, low-speed bearing surface. Used as a coating on rudders and centerboards, or on the bottoms of racing boats that are dry sailed.
The vane is permanently attached to the stake while the plastic base easily slides in and out of the bow eye fairlead, held in place for sailing with the stake. Simple to install and remove after sailing.
