KeelGuard White 7 Foot Kit
KeelGuard protects your boats hull against abrasive sand, rocks, concrete ramps and oyster beds. It eliminate costly repairs. Enjoy the highest quality and superior product engineering while increasing the value of your boat. Wear and damage to your boat's keel can break down its protective gelcoat finish, allowing water to reach and destroy the fiberglass laminates.
Every aspect of the patented KeelGuard;has been designed with boat designers and 3M® engineers. Many factors contribute to its success. A precise, abrasive-resistant blend of polymers and urethanes achieve optimal durability and pliability. A pressure-sensitive adhesive creates strength, while permanently bonding and sealing KeelGuard's;contoured edges to the hull surface. Angled grooves produce hydrodynamic channels, creating air pockets and providing a slicker surface. The perfect combination of these factors makes the KeelGuard;the easiest keel protector to install, and give it unparalleled quality and dependability.
All KeelGuard Boat Protection Products Use The Highest Quality Materials and 3M Premium Adhesives. Typically, the KeelGuard is mounted 5 to 10 inches above the waterline on the bow, ending 2 to 3 feet or more beyond the lowest point of the Keel. For personal watercraft, begin the KeelGuard approximately 1/4" inch below the bow hook running the length of the keel, and ending 4 to 6 inches forward of the pump intake.
Note: If your trailer is designed with the weight of the boat resting on the rollers or a support beam along the keel, we do not recommend installing a keel protector. If the rollers can be lowered or the side bunks raised to clear the rollers, the adhesive bond will not be compromised. The Megaware KeelGuard® may not be suitable for some boats with raised, reinforced or squared off rib/keel designs. Pontoons and catamaran type hulls can be very challenging to attach a keel protector to. Complex curves with severe contours, steps, or angles can make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to achieve a full-surface bond. The material can also 'pucker' if compound curves are encountered. Please contact Megaware for specifics. * Newer generation watercraft with exotic hull designs, make attaching a keel protector very challenging. The complex curves and contours make it almost impossible to achieve a full-surface bond. We do not recommend installing, nor can we warranty these types of applications. Older style hulls that are rounded or V shaped, work very well with the Megaware KeelGuard.
