Once activated, the GlobalFix™ V4's robust internal GPS pinpoints your precise location and broadcasts it to Search an Rescue forces worldwide using a powerful 406 MHz distress signal. When no GPS data is available, Cospas-Sarsat satellites can triangulate your position using just the 406 MHz signal. A 121.5 MHz homing signal also directs searchers to your position.

The GlobalFix V4 is a full-featured EPIRB loaded with dependable, high-efficiency electronics, such as an internal 66 Channel GPS for faster acquisition from a cold start. A protective keypad cover helps eliminate false startups, and the new, simple user-replaceable battery pack has a 10-year replacement interval - reducing the overall cost of ownership.

The system has two functional self-tests to monitor the beacon's transmission, power and battery performance and GPS acquisition. You can also access ACR's 406Link.com optional testing portal (available for the Americas only) and receive satellite confirmation messages straight to your cell phone or email.

_{NOTE: Category II beacons are designed to be manually deployed from the bracket and then activated manually or placed in the water to activate automatically. Two conditions must be met for a Category II beacon to automatically activate: It must be removed out of its bracket. And, It must be wet (i.e. placed in the water). Either condition, by itself, will not automatically activate the beacon.
