I was looking for good fids to splice up a number of different ropes and lines for my dogsledding company and after trying a number of different types of fids, this package is without a doubt the BEST kit available.
Highly recommended to anyone serious about splicing.

I would highly recommend this product. I was able to make a very good splice on my first try. The only unclear part of the instructions is whether to leave the tape on or remove it. I removed it and didn't even use it on my 2nd splice. :) I was not able to splice a braid rope with parellel core, nor a diamond braid rope but I did easy splice different double braid (Yacht and "Hurricane")

These are the only fids I use for splicing doublebraid and high tech ropes in the store. They make the job easy and enjoyable. With this set, you can create eye splices, backsplices and end splices in just about anything up to 1-1/2" diameter.
The included instructions are very clear and well illustrated; even if you've never spliced before, you can have a perfectly usable splice on your very first try.
I never use a knot when a splice will do. A good splice retains about 90% of a rope's breaking strength, compared to +/- 50% for a good bowline.
