My 27' sailboat had some mustiness problems in the winter. Installed this vent in fall 2013. Have checked boat bimonthly always in the morning (i.e., presunup in Jan) and fan is always running.

Cannot vouch that long thick cloudy stretches and short days never run the system down at some points but _can_ vouch that the boat is very noticeably sweeter and drier.

Don't look for any sort of giant draft. (That said do note that the 4" unit moves much more volume over the day than the 3" model--1000 cu ft/hr vs. 600 ch ft/hr.) What this unit does do is to pull a constant flow of air out of the boat (you can mount for either push or pull) 24/7 giving constant refreshing over time.

Totally satisfied.

Bought this product (4" stainless) in November for my boat on a cradle in Newfoundland. So far 2 months later through the darkest part of the winter the boat (27' sail) is very noticeably more fresh and dry inside each time I've checked. Also, each time I've checked the fan is running fine, though that may not include all 24 hours.

Relative humidity here, of course, is always high, so this is a great addition.

So far I am very satisfied.

Installation was very straightforward, it moves a fair bit of air for a solar vent (though not as much as I hoped), and the rechargeable battery is still going strong a year after install.

Unfortunately, it does require sunshine (not just daylight) to operate. My boat & I reside off the west coast of BC and in the wet, dreary winter the fan comes to a dead halt. I was hoping for winter ventilation to keep the mildew down; solar was a poor choice. However, in summer it works just fine to keep the heat down and the head clear.

Also, if you have limited headroom think carefully about where you install it as the fan tube does protrude several inches through the deck, causing occasional scalp wounds to the unwary.
