Actisense NGX-1-USB is a multifunction NMEA gateway that connects an NMEA 2000® network to a PC via USB, or converts data between NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 formats. It combines the capabilities of Actisense’s previous NGT-1 and NGW-1 devices into a single, flexible solution for modern and mixed-generation marine electronics systems.
The NGX-1-USB is designed for use with computers running navigation, monitoring, or diagnostic software, and for integrating legacy NMEA 0183 equipment into an NMEA 2000 network.
NMEA 2000 to PC Interface
When configured as an NMEA 2000-to-PC interface, the NGX-1-USB allows compatible software applications to view and interact with data on the NMEA 2000 bus. This makes it suitable for use with charting, navigation, and diagnostic programs that require direct access to NMEA 2000 data.
The device supports all available NMEA 2000 PGNs and acts as a controlled interface between the PC and the network.
Bi-Directional NMEA 0183 ↔ NMEA 2000 Conversion
The NGX-1 can also operate as a bi-directional conversion gateway between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000. This allows legacy NMEA 0183 instruments to share data with newer NMEA 2000 devices, helping reduce upgrade costs while keeping existing equipment in service.
Conversion rules, transmit and receive lists, and data rates can be configured using Actisense software tools.
USB Variant (NGX-1-USB)
This version of the NGX-1 is supplied with an integrated USB cable for plug-and-play connection to a PC. The USB interface is fully galvanically isolated from the NMEA 2000 network to help prevent ground loop issues when connecting computers onboard.
The NGX-1-USB is powered directly from the NMEA 2000 network and does not require a separate power supply.
