I have used this product for 6 years since its introduction into Canada. With an adequate base (4 to 5 coats) it provides excellent gloss retention and (here) requires only annual recoating. It has far superior UV protection compared to the old
Pettit Bak V Spar (generically the same as Captain's Varnish, I believe).
However, be sure to have the recommended (#120) brushing thinner on hand and be prepared to thin the varnish as you go (sparingly but regularly). In the heat of summer prepare the surfaces to be varnished the day before and varnish early in the morning (say before 10 AM; as early as possible after the surface is dry) to avoid 'alligatoring' particularly on the laps.
