PROtect MASK PMG050 50 micron thick x 25mm wide.
PROtect MASK is a tape combining a thin film of highly tensilized skived PTFE, (a synthetic fluoropolymer) with a high temperature silicon adhesive. The film has the highest per unit tensile strength, toughness and high temperature resistance of any PTFE product. The low coefficient of friction together with the resistance to abrasion, offers an efficient solution to many racing wear and tear problems.
The extremely low coefficient of friction of this film is only second to DLC (diamond like carbon), therefore it’s the only known surface to which a Gecko cannot stick.
Many professional sailors and riggers used to call PROtect MASK, "millionaire's tape" because of the price, but in the last few years PROtect has spent time, money and human resources reengineering manufacturing to make "Gecko Tape" affordable.
This unique PTFE tape with silicon adhesive, protects lines and sheets from chafe damage and resists weather and water, yet holds tight without sticky residues. Typical applications of PROtect MASK are protection against chafing from shackles, turnbuckles, lifeline fittings, spreader ends and more.
Riggers also use it for splicing, loops, strops and soft connections.
Features & Typical applications:
- 140% elongation at break
- Grey
- running rigging
- bobstays and strops
- standing rigging, spreaders and turnbuckles
- forestay, backstay, runners and other cables
- all uneven or irregular surfaces
- ideal for wrapping parts where salt build up can occur
