Atlas of Tidal Currents St Lawrence River St. Lawrence Estuary from Cap de Bon-Desir to Trois-Rivieres
The Atlas of Tidal Currents presents a comprehensive view of the hourly rate and direction of major currents within the St Lawrence River, from the entrance of the river to Trois-Riviere. The Atlas uses arrows to indicate the direction and the velocity of surface currents.
To be used in conjunction with Volume 3 of the Canadian Tide and Current Tables provided annually by the Canadian Hydrographic Service.
The Atlas shows the surface currents of the St. Lawrence Estuary between Cap de Bon-Desir and Trois-Rivieres, where the tides and the freshwater outflow dominate the circulation. The Atlas presents currents produced by tides and the river flow in a typical summer, but does not account for wind-driven currents.
The Atlas covers nine geographical sectors, with twelve Current Charts over time intervals of one hour, a typical semi-diunrnal tidal cycle.
