best features
all in one..whistle, light, self inflates, and manual fill as well
fits well .....has foot straps as well......

negative features
feels heavy at first but body adjusts to it

I had just done a 4 day delivery using an older style of inflatable vest. After buying the spinlock i took a three day trip. The spinlock was dramatically more comfortable....I'd probably shoot myself before I went back to wearing the other style again....

This is a beautifully made vest but it is very tight on me. I am tall and heavy but this vest fits so high up that my weight has little to do with how it fits. It feels very short in length on me. Perhaps it is just the design. I wanted something for kayaking and shooting photos and this may well be useful for that purpose. I wish they made an extra large.

If you plan to buy an inflatable vest then the Deckvest is the one to choose. It is the most comfortable vest I have worn, especially the way it doesn't ride up on my neck. There is an adjustment tab at the back of the neck which pulls it down and once set in place it does not have to be adjusted again. I was also impressed with the built in strobe light and hood. I wear mine every time I am on the water - very comfortable!

Perfect & On-Time

The Spinlock Deckvest arrived as promised in perfect condition, just in time for stormy racing on the San Francisco Bay. Purchasing and replacing the Gas Cylinder was a snap once I figured out it was ½ inch threading. I did not have the opportunity to fall overboard and test the auto inflation and flotation but I must say I am impressed in every other way. I can report that the vest is very comfy and secure. It adjusts easily, stays adjusted, wears well, and allows for fuller range of motion than conventional lifejackets. It is very low profile and does not snag or catch when brushing up against stays, safety lines, or crew. I have owned many backpacks, lifejackets and climbing harnesses over the years and have never seen better ergonomics for XL sizing. Spinlock and Petzl certainly have a winning design with this product. I will be testing auto inflation, flotation, and re-packing later this week or next in a heated swimming pool.
